MAKE me UP

MAKE me UP, make me pretty! I remember to watch my Mum while she was doing her make-up before going out. I was almost hypnotised & I couldn’t wait to be all grown up and do it too. In my humble opinion little bit of make-up is just like a hair brushing or nice clothes. GOOD feeling, FUN or ART?

Woman & man around the world are trying to change OR improve their appearance from beginning of time. It’s just another way how to identify & express your self. Are you trying to cover-up some small “mistakes” of nature (very subjective what is mistake and what is a unique & sexy) OR you just wish to differentiate your self? Either way it’s your body & make-up certainly doesn’t hurt anybody. I didn’t realise it can be a problematic topic for any one, then I’ve seen this: “Women who love to wear a lot of make-up can sometimes be accused by others of being insecure or of being overly concerned with impressing men, but Nikkie, a Youtuber famous for her make-up tutorials and expertise, wants to change all that…” that’s the most ridiculous thing! People who says that girls lie, faking, pretending to be “prettier” …well those should consider a proper dating instead of a disappointing one night stands :D

A post “Women Post Selfies With Half-Made-Up Faces To Fight Make-up Shaming” is collecting half-made-up selfies of women & girls around the world, join them today by tagging #ThePowerOfMakeup – you still have a bit of time :)

Women have radar for beauty, we recognise who is natural & who is a masking contest participant. Men are not usually so observant. From my experience they like the results, but tend to ignore this topic :D. The only real make-up haters whom I ever met, are teachers from the Angela Merici catholic school, Trnava, Slovakia. But now I have to agree a heavy make-up on the 12 year old child – is a bit an overkill.

The Power of MAKEUP!

Back to real life

To be honest when I see all these make-up tutorials I’m wondering who has the time for this shit? And what about all those money on make-up? It seems to me like a princess story for grownups. Magic touch by the 100 magic brushes and Voilà – you are the beauty that can’t cry, sweat & jump like crazy :D But I have to admit – 7mil views?! I’m definitely in the wrong business!!

I guess I’m not a typical girly girl but I do like make-up & I can live without it too. Specially in the summer – nothing feels better than “naked” skin (NO MAKE-UP would survive humid London tube journey to work :D )! Don’t hide behind the mask all the time & take it easy – feel comfortable Au Naturel …and yes you CAN go for a walk OR take the trash out – without the full make-up on :)

Celebrity & fashion world are all about the make-up & beauty not about a health & happiness. So if the make-up is some kind of insecurity OR mask in your case – change of lifestyle is more than required NOW!!!

Of course if you have a long-term bad skin condition, find out what’s causing it ASAP*. Stress, illness, allergy, bad diet & low quality cosmetic products all these may be a reason. Make-up is maybe cheaper than a Doctor & Beautician specialists – but soonest you discover the cause, the less permanent damage you will do to your skin & body.

Recently I found this video featuring a beauty blogger with adult acne. It has been watched almost seven million times & she wanted to point out the “unrealistic expectations” social media places on women.

YOU LOOK DISGUSTING

Exactly what I’m trying to say – You can’t EVER satisfy everyone and become this perfect person that everybody loves & admire.. Doesn’t matter if it’s about your clothes, face, body, life creed OR sexuality. So stop try pleasing others and please yourself!

I will – as all this make-up talk inspired me to try some crazy make-ups:) coming soon.

FACTs: A bit of history about make-up

  • The earliest historical record of make-up comes from the 1st Dynasty of Egypt (c.3100-2907 BC). Tombs from this era have revealed unguent jars, which in later periods were scented. Unguent was a substance extensively used by men and women to keep their skin hydrated and supple and to avoid wrinkles from the dry heat. The women of Egypt also decorated their eyes by applying dark green color to the under lid and blackening the lashes and the upper lid with kohl, which was made from antimony (a metallic element) or soot. It is believed that the Jews adopted the use of make-up from the Egyptians, since references to the painting of faces appear in the New Testament section of the Bible.
  • Roman philosopher Plautus (254-184 BC) wrote, “A woman without paint is like food without salt.” Of course, Plautus was a dramatist, which would explain his preference for the look of a “painted woman” at that time. Romans widely used cosmetics by the middle of the 1st century AD. Kohl was used for darkening eyelashes and eyelids, chalk was used for whitening the complexion, and rouge was worn on the cheek. Depilatories were utilized at that time and pumice was used for cleaning the teeth.
